Adele

AdeleAdele Mara April 28, 1923 until May 7, 2010.) was an American singer, actress, and dancer, who appeared in films during the 1950s and 1940s as well as on television during the 1950s and 1960s. Under the professional name of Adele St. Mara, she signed a contract with Columbia Pictures [citation required] and began to work in the studio's "B" features as well as comedy shorts. Then, she was changed to Adele Mara. Mara was a receptionist in Three Stooges' film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks and Leslie Brooks were the sisters of Rita Hayworth in the Fred Astaire movie You Were Never Lovelier. In Alias Boston Blackie (1942) she is the lead female role as the sister of an escaped and wrongfully found guilty convict. When her Columbia contract was up after which she moved to Republic Pictures where she was a regular in outdoor adventures and westerns. She appeared in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch starring John Wayne, Angel In Exile (leading woman), Sands of Iwo Jima in which John Agar's lover, California Passage and Don Siegel's Count the Hours.
